Hello everyone! My name is George!!
Gary Sicard
Hi Everyone!
It seems I have now had one of these dogs for about 7 or 8 months now, What a great dog!
Rescued him from being abandoned. Left to die, no food, or water, and quite ill. He is a fantastic dog, incredible personality he has take a lot of money and time to get something like near normal, but I think he’s worth the effort. See photo’s. I did not even know what bread he was until today. But now I know. He lives outside, as I think it’s what he’s used to, come indoors for about 5 or 10 mins, But I do worry about him laying around in the ice and snow in our garden this time of year as it can get very cold at nights over here. Sometimes 1mtr of snow. Any info for pointer would be great, thanks.
By the way His name ( I call him is George) looks like a George! Submitted by Normski [/html]

hi norm, I think its a wonderful thing you've done for George and believe me he's worth it all. I recused my sasha and she's the most amazing dog and I love her to death. i live in New york and this is definitely her weather as soon as it gets cold and there is snow she wants out and diving into the snow and laying in it. I got her when she was about a year and a half and this Christmas she will be 10. Please let me know how you are doing.Yes and where do you live. best wishes, Kate

Hello again. We are in Bulgaria and it’s snow time of year now and about -10 or -12c at night But although my new dad has me in the house to get warm, I can get too hot and have to go back out in the snow and ice! I am doing very well, at last I am loved, fed very well, and anything wrong with me I am straight off to the dog doctor. I go for nice walks in the snow, with my new girl friend who is a pretty Pyrenean mountain dog, but she don’t fancy me! Never mind can’t have it all! Thanks for your kind messages and hope you all have great Christmas and a happy new year. George. See picture

My name is Susan and my husband is Michael, we are from Yorkshire in England but have lived in Bulgaria for over two years now and last Friday bought a Caucasian puppy. She is six weeks old and weighs 5 1/2 kilos. This is the first time I have owned this breed but have had Rottweilers and Tibetan Mastiffs in the past, do you have any tips on keeping this breed. I have been doing my homework on the internet and there seems to be different opinons on keeping this breed. Look forward to hearing from you soon. Where abouts are you in Bulgaria?
Regards
Susan & Michael

Hi there Susan:
We are near VT or Velico Tarnovo and we have also been out here near 2 years now. Snap! Regards your new baby, as you may have gathered I not an expert on these sort of dogs or type, although I had dogs all my life, of one sort or another. I suppose they are like people, not all the same. But I suppose they do share genetic characteristics. Like you had done some reading on them, and thus far found it to be quite accurate. George has turned out to be a very loyal dog, He is not noisy shouting off all over the place, but when there’s something not right, then He sounds quite terrifying with his growl. He is a very strong willed boy, if don’t want to do something sorry but you can’t make him. But I have found if you tempt him with ( food) he easy conned but he does not like to forced. He also a massively powerful animal, Not nasty at all, but I would not like to get on the wrong side of him, he has the power to snap my arm with one bite, and I am a big guy. They can also come across quite slow animals, but don’t believe it, when it matters they are like lightning, not so much with running but the speed they can twist and turn, I’ve seen it. In short a very loyal and fantastic friend who will love you to bits, but watch out those enemies or unwanted visitors. I suppose you will have the normal puppy things to deal with, good luck! And I don’t need to say, you will most definitely have to establish you’re the big boss. Or you could well be in for some problems, don’t go there. But if you have had dogs before, specially these monster sized ones, I don’t need to tell you half of this, as you would know the score! All I can do is speak for myself, George is one great dog who I would not now evict, for 10K, He is now one of our family, and we love him to bits.
But for Bulgaria, great dogs, you won’t get any unwanted problems at home from people when they grow up and great family member.
We would to see your new baby sometime or meet up if you wish. Regards.

Yes we also would like to meet up and see George, we have had problems here with our garage been broken into, hence getting puppy. Of course you can see her but at the moment she hasn't had all her injections and therefore is staying in the house. However you are more than welcome to come to the house and see her, we have called her Martha. When and where would you like to meet?
Susan

I've enjoyed our pictures of George and hearing he is doing well. He is a beautiful dog, and looks quite happy now that he is loved and taken care of. I also enjoyed reading about Susan and Michael and their puppy. You are bsolutely right Norm , if they don't want to do something, they won't and thats that, they cannot be forced. I will always sa to my husband you've got to tell Sasha what you're doing you can't bark a command like you would a German Shepard. I've enjoyed reading your stories from Bulgaria from here in New York State. Please keep me posted. Bestt Regards, Kate and Sasha

Hi Kate this is Susan, you mentioned us in your last comments, how long have you had your Caucasian dogs? Martha is only seven weeks old and I have to be honest Ive just been a bit of a devil and let her experience the snow here in Bulgaria, there is about 9 inch at the moment, she loved it and started to romp through it. Which surprised me as since she arrived at our home, just over a week ago, she hasnt moved from in front of the fire. And I had read that this breed loves the winter months. Would be lovely to hear from you, feel free to get n touch. Regards Susan, Michael & Martha.

hi Susan, this is Kate-I'm so happy you wrote. I have one Caucasian, her name is Sasha and she was 10 on Boxing Day. I got her when she was 14 months old, she had been abandoned and rescued by a rescue group [the people tied her to a dumpster at night on the 4th f july with all the firecracker and fireworkers going off so she was completely freaked out. I had adopted another dog from them [border collie mix 10 weeks old] and I was bringing back a crate they hd loaned me and there in this huge cage she sat I took one look at her she at me and I said I'd like to adopt her [it was love at first sight. The women explained she was an unusual breed one of the volunteers recognized and took her to breeder who confirmed it. I could get very little information about her , I spoke to a few breeders here on the phone who gladly told me not to leave her with the other puppy alone because she'd kill him. I just put all that aside and took my cues from her and thank God it all worked out. She is so elegant and graceful and I adore her. I've learned more about the breed since my huband got me a laptop over ayear ago. I've had dogs all my life but this one is special in a way thats hard to describe, you'll see. I don't think I've ever had to yell at her Just Sasha stop when we're outside and someone comes on the property because they're territorial. She's always taken her cue from my reactions to things except when she feels there is danger to me, my husband or son. She's always been right. I can take her anyhere. I know she is old for a large breed but I do everything possible to keep her healthy. Needless to say Jake the border collie survived and is a wildman. Talk to Martha a lot,, it may sound strage but they have an inate understanding I can't describe. Please let me know how they are as small puppies chewers etc. Now that I've cheed your ear off, whats a girl from Yorkshire doig in Bulgaria? Drop me a note when you have a chance. regards,Kate , Ssha and the gang
