I was seeing a dog(I recognize this dog and his owner)and stroking him one day in every week.A week ago,his owner wanted me to chain his dog to a tree. While I was trying to do it,the dog wanted to go away.I didn't allow him, then he turned towards me and suddenly attacked me for about 10-15 seconds, until I kicked him...

This shocked me,I was thinking about buying a Caucasian Ovcharka like you know, but this attack caused me to lose my trust towards dogs,he attacked me viciously for such a small reason.I started thinking about buying a toy dog,a Golden Retriever or a Collie, cause I thought that they are calm and patient dogs,or not strong(toy dogs).

But I still want to have a Co,but I fear...

May a well trained dog attack his/her master or family?(the dog which bited me isn't a breed and it wasn't trained, and also he bited a dog trainer a few weeks ago(the dog was not at a training class, the trainer was at the dog's owner's office for a different reason)).
Also the next day I heard that famous old soccer player Diego Armando Maradona's dog bited his face and he had surgical operation, and this increased my fear.

May a well trained dog who knows his place in the family is the lowest rank, attack his/her master or family?

Jack,

I have raised 8 Belgians from puppies. My younger brother and his wife are both vet surgeons. A dog that you raise, feed, play with, take care of will never, never attack you. That does not include a dog that you have gotten from someone (at an adult age).

So, I can tell you with certainty that you will be fine. I am getting ready to get a CO myself. My brother imported an eight week old female on from Georgia 2 weeks ago.

Do not worry, it will be fine.

Hi Faisal,
very nice post. I particular a properly raised CO should not attack its owner. Jack - go ahead and get your dog and raise it well.

Jack it is very importand that you get yourself educated about the breeed you are interested to buy.
I beleive that the owner of the CO that attacked you was not well informed about the breed as well.
Generally you do not let any one else but the owner to restrict a CO.
He is A STRANGER tresspasing its territory, only because the owner accepts so.
But tresspasing its territory because the owner says ok its one think (speaking for a CO and not for a Newfoundland or Saint Bernard) let the STRANGER restrict the CO IT IS TOO MUCH FOR THE BREED.
Once upon a time should be too much for the owner to ask the dog, to accept peting from a stranger, no matter what, and according my oppinion should NOT CHANGE.
If someone is interested for A GUARDIAN BREED, should get a dog from such breed.
If not should get a beautyfull couch potato, there are plenty.
NONE HAS THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE A GUARDIAN BREED AND TURN IT TO COUCH POTATO.
IT'S NOT ONLY A CRIME AGAINST THE BREED, SOMETIMES IT'S DANGEROUS AS WELL with the sense described above.

Its only my oppinion

Regards

Dkoriss
