Hello again.A few months(maybe 4 or 5 ) has passed after a dog attacked me.If I remember right I had written on this forum that I decided not to buy a CO and wanted to buy a small/toy dog or a Collie maybe,I had lost my courage against dogs and was thinking that if I buy a small dog at least even if he attacks me I can stop him easily.

Now I picked my courage back(although not totaly) and I am planing to buy a male Sharplaninac or a female CO.A female Co cause they are smaller than the male ones,I decided certainly that I am not going to buy a very big giant dog like a male CO,and a Sharplaninac because they are a strong and medium sized breed(35-45 kg FCI registered ones)

What are the characterictic differences of a male Sharplaninac and a female CO?

After reading some information about them in past months,I think I noticed one of the differences between them.Sharplaninac is reserved with strangers and Co is aggressive towards strangers...Is it true? Also is it possible to change this aggressiveness toward being reserved-suspicious with strangers or are they always aggressive toward strangers like a Fila Brasiliero?

Yes Jack. Your observation is somewhat correct. A Sarplaninac will also be aggressive to strangers on their property if there is a perceived threat. The big difference is the "trigger." lets put it this way. The Shar is more patient and the CO more belicose. .. or another way could be "Ready, aim, fire" vs "Ready, Fire" The CO makes their decision very quickly whether they will aggress and the decision is normally yes. That temper can be modrated with training, socialization and exposure. If you the best guardian dog - strictly for guarding get the CO. If you want something to take with you on trips and to wecome the neighbours - this is not the one.
