Yes there are different types. Regardless whether one agrees with it or not, there are. Long story short, this has come due to breeding for specific traits in different regions. Examples: -link- -link- -link- -link- You can also look up more information on "aboriginal" types here: -link- Hope that helps. |

| Seems like they vary too much.If I decide to buy a CO I shouldn't buy without seeing his mother/father(but I will buy him through a veterinar, the veterinar will order him(from abroad) I hope he can show me a photo of the CO puppy,CO's(which we will buy) mother and father.) Which type is this CO?I love this dog. [ image disabled ] [ Edited Sat Aug 22 2009, 08:50PM ] |

There are different types of CO's without a doubt, but there is no need to import from a breeder. There are a few reputable breeders in the United States, as well as Ovtcharka Rescues. I was blessed with my beautiful boy when he was only 10 months old. He has matured into a beautiful 2 year old male. |

Scott, in my opinion uncropped ears just look weird on a CO. All 4 of my CO were imported and if I want another one I will import again rather than buy from a US breeder with one possible exception. It is great that you got yours from a rescue but that is not for everyone for various reasons. For instance we did show and planned to breed. |

I do not know how to use a system like this so I am not trying to upset anyone by putting words in a missed category but if you can dirct me to a welcome area of this site to talk about my Central Asian Ovtcharka, I would appreciate it. My dogs name is Sir Sparky Arslan. Sparky for short. I will put a photo of my dog very soon. I don't have a current good photo but will be putting one of his puppy pics up for the profile. I am getting married and moving to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in four months from here in Tempe, Arizona where I have owned my puppy since I bought him from a breeder in Virginia. I love my 2 1/2 year old Ovtcharka and he loves me. I was considering breeding Ovtcharka because of their nature and the surrounding area which is populated by a certain number of bear and wolf. I think the Canadian people would love the Ovtcharka. Any comments PLEASE?? Vinnie & Sparky |
