The Caucasian sheep-dog is one of the most ancient breeds of dog in the world. The breed originated 2-3 thousand years ago in the region located between the Black and Caspian seas. Inherently, the Caucasian sheep-dog is a Volkodav, that is, a guardian/protection/security dog. The breed is registered with the FCI under the name "Caucasian sheep-dog ." Country- Russia, that is, only Russia has the right to make changes to the existing standard of the breed. The Caucasian sheep-dog is a very natural dog created by methods of natural selection, instead of being created by man. Definitely, the Caucasian sheep-dog is the best security breed in the world; spiteful and mistrustful of strangers, obstinate and freedom-loving.
It is popular in many countries of the world, with the best examples of the breed in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The Caucasian Ovcharka is not recommended for beginners dog breeders as a companion. Gary -link- -link- |

| I have just joined the forum. I have been looking for the real Ovtcharka now for some time. This is a special animal. I just wanted to say hello. I wasn't sure where to post this. I have been involved with working dogs all my life. I currently have a presa canario out of solid working lines. I hope that i can contribute to this forum and continue to learn about this wonderful breed. |
